This has been an incredibly active and
positive year for the HMCA and there are
plans to expand the website, see the
publishing of the HMCA's first book and
add several new weapons to the HMCA
repertoire. Lately we've had several
inquiries regarding membership in the
Association, and after much consideration
we now have several levels from which to
choose, based on your interests.
Friends of the HMCA
This group is made up of those
with a casual interest in historical
maritime combat. The membership costs
nothing and is easily had by simply
logging on to our Maritime Combat yahoogroup. There you'll be included in
discussions, debates and general
techniques regarding 17th to 19th century
maritime weapons. You'll also be kept
informed of any upcoming workshops,
including location, fees, related websites
and where to pick up HMCA endorsed
practice weapons
Associate Members
This group is intended for those
with a deeper interest in maritime fight
styles and who intend to create for
themselves a training regimen and attend
classes and workshops fairly frequently.
The cost for this membership is $35.00 a
year and includes the Yahoogroup, a
tri-annual newsletter, discounts on fees
for seminars the HMCA is hosting and
discounts on training weapons purchased at
these seminars. You will also get your
name printed on our upcoming Associates
page
Acknowledged Instructors
This group is made up entirely of
instructors with whom HMCA instructors
have worked and recognizes their
contribution to the field of Historical
maritime combat
Gold Membership
Available in late 2007, this group
is made up of those contributing to the
further study of historical maritime
combat, the purchase of rights to related
texts and manuscripts and support of the
website. Once the book is published, Gold
Members will have a password to access
detailed lessons from the book, as well as
view available manuals as they become
available. All this in addition to what is
offered as a Friend and / or Associate
member
The HMCA would like to take this
opportunity to thank all of you for your
interest, your enthusiasm and your support
in the growing field of historical
maritime combat.
Sincerely,
Gareth Thomas
